Chromatics is Gilbert’s incredible instrument ensemble! This group is made up of interested 4th and 5th grade musicians, based on an audition process. Chromatics rehearses during Explorations. We prepare and perform a wide variety of music, including multi-cultural songs, pieces from the Orff volumes, and pieces the students create themselves. Since music and movement go hand in hand, we also include creative movement and dance as part of our performances.
We perform with “Orff instruments”, such as xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels, and other percussion. Carl Orff was a composer who believed that all children are capable of making beautiful music, so he designed these instruments to help children be successful musicians, no matter their age.
Chromatics performs on Winter and Spring Matinee days at Gilbert. We also accept invitations to perform in the community.
